Flying and Pilot Particulars:
Kelowna Airport is 1409 ASL and has
an irregular shaped class D control zone. Runway 34-16 is 7300 x 200.
Commercial airline terminal is
at the South End of the Airport. Mode C is required above 3000' while in the
Control Zone but not below.
Approaching Kelowna from the north you will most likely be told to follow the
Fintry Arrival. From the southwest it will be the Westbank Arrival and from the
southeast, the Mission Arrival. The tower will eventually direct you straight in
to the circuit or the runway. (click

Kelowna is a Customs
Airport of Entry and service is available 24/7. For those pilots flying into
Canada, you must call CANPASS at 1-888-CANPASS at least 2 hours but no more than
seventy-two hours before flying into Canada. You will be asked for your
destination, ETA and other particulars, including passenger information. If you
have a criminal record, including DUI, a waiver can be obtained from the nearest
Canadian Embassy or Consulate prior to entry. A passport is not yet required but
is advisable. Proof of citizenship and one other form of photo ID is required.
If no customs agent is present on arrival, simply call the CANPASS phone number
and they will give you a reference number to write in your logbook. This is the
procedure almost always.
